BrainWise is a digital magazine that provides original content about our brains.
We seek to explore and explain how brains work, why they do the things they do, how trauma and disease can change everything, and more. With most of our features, we delve into neuropsychology, neuroscience, and brain and cognitive health; specifically where these disciplines intersect with popular culture and everyday lives. Our goal: To make brain science understandable and approachable for everyone.
What you read on these (virtual) pages is a collaboration between the National Academy of Neuropsychology, Inc. (NAN), and the National Academy of Neuropsychology Foundation (NAN Foundation). The latter organization has a mission to promote neuro-wellness and improve quality of life through public education.
NAN is a non-profit professional membership association for experts in the assessment and treatment of brain injuries and disorders. NAN members work in the most prestigious universities, hospitals, and private practices throughout the world, and are at the forefront of cutting-edge research and rehabilitation in the field of brain behavior relationships.
A neuropsychologist is a doctoral-level psychologist who has further specialty training in understanding the relationship between the brain and behavior. Neuropsychologists assess and treat brain disorders and injuries and nervous system conditions that can impact behavior and cognitive function.
Our members believe strongly in learning through sharing. That’s why BrainWise is here.
