Welcome to BrainWise

Welcome to BrainWise, a digital magazine that provides original content about neuropsychology, neuroscience, and brain and cognitive health.

This online magazine is produced jointly by the National Academy of Neuropsychology, Inc. (NAN), and the National Academy of Neuropsychology Foundation (NAN Foundation). The mission: To provide stories that inform patients, caregivers, and brain health professionals alike.

The magazine will focus on a variety of topics including neuropsychological disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease, head injury, and Frontotemporal Dementia (to name a few). The publication also will address brain science for healthy living, offer insights into brain health and brain resilience, and grapple with issues pertaining to caring for people who have brain conditions.

BrainWise will share discovery information, innovative health tips, and expert opinions at the intersection of neurobehavioral disorders and cognitive health. There will be regular Q&As with experts, new blog posts weekly, and new features once a month.

In short, BrainWise aims to make brain science approachable to a broad audience of readers from all walks of life.

It’s important to note that we will use a rigorous fact-checking procedure powered by neuropsychologists to ensure the veracity and objectivity of its reported work. Articles that have gone through this fact-checking process will have a special link at the bottom.

We will add new content regularly. In addition to checking back regularly to read this material, please sign up for the free BrainWise newsletter to receive a monthly snapshot of stories being published on these pages.

NAN is helmed by Dr. William Perry, Executive Director and Past President of NAN. BrainWise is edited by Matt Villano, a longtime journalist and science writer.
